Teaching Assistant 

Central Valley Christian School is currently looking for a friendly and competent part-time (15.5 hours per week) teaching assistant to join our team for the 2021 - 2022 school year.  If you are a compassionate and self-motivated individual with a specific interest in education, please apply!  In this position, you will be responsible for supervising students (both with and without the lead teacher present), preparing lesson material, and maintaining classroom tidiness.  


You must enjoy working with children and be devoted to building a nurturing and safe learning environment.  To excel in this position, you must demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills, as well as in-depth knowledge of classroom activities and teaching methods.


Wages and benefits are based on the denominational wage scale and policy.  You must have a legal right to work in the United States and be able to provide evidence of that right if employed. This position begins one week prior to the start of the school year and finishes one week after the school year concludes.


Teacher Assistant Responsibilities:

  • Work with the lead teacher to monitor the class schedule and student activity.

  • Assist teachers with lesson preparation by getting materials ready and setting up equipment.

  • Revise lesson material as needed with students individually or in small groups.

  • Oversee students during non-classroom times including in-between classes, during lunch, and field trip excursions.

  • Collaborate with lead teachers to recognize issues students are facing and recommend solutions.

  • Comply with conference, school, and class rules and regulations.  


Teacher Assistant Requirements:

  • Member of the Seventh-Day Adventist Church

  • Cleared background check with the Oregon Conference of SDA

  • High school diploma or equivalent qualification

  • Bachelor’s degree in education or a relevant field is preferred

  • A minimum of 2 years experience as a teaching assistant or similar position

  • Solid understanding of classroom management

  • A compassionate and positive attitude
